Spotted in the Bleachers

I was in Lawndale, CA, watching a pro women’s ultimate frisbee game when something caught my eye on the bleachers as I was leaving. It was a Hug Your Homies hoodie. I lit up and walked straight over to the guy wearing it, asking how he knew Talia. He smiled and pointed to his friend Cobb, saying they knew her through Jesse—Eli’s brother. That connection instantly warmed my heart. “Talia’s my best friend,” I said, grinning. I snapped a photo of them and sent it to her right away.

This was actually the second time I’ve spotted a Hug Your Homies hoodie out in the wild—both times at ultimate frisbee games! There’s something magical about those moments. Even though we were strangers, that simple hoodie reminded us that we shared something deeper: a connection, a friendship, and a love for life.
